Tea-the drink of champions

Thought you all might like to know how to make a perfect brew:
- select a decent tea (fair trade obviously) using 1 teabag per 1-2 people
- boil a kettle of freshly drawn water, but wait a few seconds before pouring as boiling water scalds the leaves and spoils the flavour.
- pour a little of the hot water into the teapot (oh yes, one must use a teapot) and swirl it around to warm the pot.
- Steep the tea for 3-5 minutes according to taste
- Serve with or without milk or lemon, and a lovely homemade victoria sponge.

you are now a domestic Godess, and a jolly decent Englishman too!

preheating the teapot with hot water is a killer tip,
really it changes everything

A new teashop has opened in Swansea called ttotal. It is brill. They give you a little timer that is set to the right time for your particular brand of tea. And, it goes without saying, proper milk and a teapot.
And the caramel shortbreads are divine. If you ever visit Swansea it's on the first floor of Waterstone's.

How good is victoria sponge with Tea! What a quality post Jodie. Tea must be taken seriously and sometimes the welsh just don't get it. I wonder if queen victoria realised how clever she was when she invited the sponge?! You've inspired me and I'm going to bake later today! I'm excited already

Excuse me, Tim, but who was it who insisted on having a teapot in the office? A Welsh woman.

And did you know that tea was first sold in England in coffee shops of which there were many? Women didn't go in - not respectable women anyway - so tea was a men only drink.

It was claimed that it could cure just about every disease under the sun.

and it can. think of any horrible situation that could happen in life, the edge is taken off the horribleness with a cup of tea.

Why else would it be called tea and sympathy?

plus white tea is supposed to help prevent some types of cancer.

And loads of hollywood stars now choose tea over champers (I know, I have a subscription to instyle magazine - best birthday present ever!!)

I am coming to swansea in a few weeks as luck woulod have it so I shall definately try out ttotal!!

I've gotta say guys, teas nice n'all, but coffee is better. And I don't particularly love either, but I'd almost always go for a good cup of coffee if I was gonna have either. Especially if its a foamy latte with a flake in it from Costa!

stole it. guilty. though I was thinking about doing it on the way home before I read yours. So maybe you stole my thoughts?!? get out of my head!!!!!!

Tim, you are so wrong. Being of strong constitution, there are very few things in this life that make me vomit, but coffee is one of them.

It's because you get rubbish tea out normally - see earlier comment!

Anonymous. Jodie, we should investigate some more to find out who this churlish inbecile is.

Previous 'anonymous comments of the offensive variety have been attributed to a slight lady, blue in colour, who answers to the name(s) Lucinda, Cinds, Lucky etc.

I have a hunch that shes up to her tricks again...

You're not a very good detective Lovell.

You're not a very good speller for that matter either ......

Now that's annoyed me. You're not a very good human being, but I don't go on about it. As long as 'anonymous' fails to reveal itself, we shall retain the moral, intellectual, etymological, and aesthetic high ground.

And I'm sorry, I did spell a word wrong. What I meant to write was "...find out who this churlish imbecilic, no nothing no it all, cockraoch loving, low-life, pathetic mong of a human is. Face it, you'll never be the man your mother was. Thou appeareth nothing to me but a foul and pestilent congregation of vapours.

And by the way, it is convention to only use three full stops in an ellipsis, not six.

It is a true coward that will not stand up and hear his or her (lucinda) own transgressions.

Kiera+Liz, I fully understand the paying for tea logic, but next time you go to such an establishment, I urge you to try a chai tea latte. they are SOOOO good.

Other news - I am SO glad chantelle won bb, she's a honey!

Mr Lovell I'm glad you took the Anonymous comment as being directed at you. I thought they were talking about me but you must have realised as quickly as I did that I couldn't make anyone vomit-I'm far too nice.

Just want to say that since this discussion started I've been so inspired I've baked two victoria sponges. I strongly recommend every has a little bake this week.
